The Choices We Make (part 1) - (February 2055 Birthdays)

February 2055. Todd Keller is 30. Gretchen Keller is 29. Heidi Ingram is 24. Chelsea Keller is 13. Logan Keller is 12. Peyton Keller is 9.

optional soundtrack: “If It Makes You Happy” by Sheryl Crow

Heidi stepped out of her junky car and into the biting cold air of late February. Everything seemed colder back in her hometown of Lansing. Perhaps she had just gotten too used to the urban heat complex of Kimball Station. Or maybe it was something else.

The door of the triplex’s leftmost unit swung open, her nephews walking out into the yard in shock.

“Aunt Heidi?”

Still Feel the Heat (part 2)

February 2055. Bettina McPherson is 53. Oliver and Jyoti Fitzgerald are 52. Daria Weaver is 49. Mason Weir is 18. Devika Fitzgerald, Cassandra Weaver, and Justin Kim are 17. Maura McPherson is 16. Ravi Fitzgerald is 14.

optional soundtrack: “Dead of Winter” by Katie Pederson

Jyoti watched her daughter look at herself in the mirror. The way Devika kept pinning and spraying her hair, her hands shaky--it made Jyoti nervous, too.

“Ugh!” Devika let out a long, loud groan. “I hate my hair!”

author's note: under the hood

Hello folks! I'm still working on Reyerstown, don't worry lol. I have been having some trouble with the hood, but mostly just Kimball Station (my "downtown" subhood that is actually a shopping district). For the past two or three years, it's been crashing almost every time I open the lot bin or click on a lot. Obviously, this presents a big problem when it comes to storytelling.

I copied the neighborhood over to my laptop to test it out over there (and attempt to replace the terrain, because I have always had issues with KS's terrain), and surprisingly, it had no problems. This led me to think it was a CC issue (and it could still be a CC issue), but when I checked my neighborhood deco folder for both my laptop's game and the main computer's game, they were essentially the same.

So, after making a new terrain in SC4, importing into the game on my laptop, then the main computer in a test hood, I was placing some lots. And that's when I think I discovered what the problem is: a borked lot. I'm so glad it might just be a lot and not some kind of BFBVFS (which would essentially be my worst fear... again).

The Sims 2 is such a weird, broken game but I love it so much. Here's hoping this fixes the problem, and Reyerstown updates can resume as normal.

See ya!

author's note: secret simblr

Hey guys! I am still cleaning out CC so I think it's going to be another while before I can really get back into Reyerstown. However, I've recently revived my simblr, so if you want to see me play some premades (right now I'm playing Sim State University) then check me out over there! I also make lots like... once a year, lol. I'd love for you to pay me a visit.

https://blueplumbbob.tumblr.com/

I can't make any promises for when I'll update Reyerstown, but I will be posting on my simblr more frequently! I hope you can understand.

-Amy

author's note: the great cc purge of 2017 + mini picspam

Hey guys, it's been a while, lol. Like. Eight months. A long while.

Things have been kind of crazy this year, but I have never forgotten about Reyerstown. I started this project in August 2014 and I intend to work on it, however slow it might be, haha. I've actually been working on the Oliver-Fitzgerald's second update for months, the main time-consumer being that I wanted to finish this massive high school I built. I probably shouldn't have made a high school that big, ha, but here I am. It's beautiful but laggy as hell. I guess that's the price you pay. The school really isn't an excuse, though. I've just been working very slowly.

I have the writing for the update almost done. I just have to take pictures. Hopefully I can get it up before the end of the year, but I'm not making any promises.

In other news, I've been cleaning out and organizing my CC to help cut loading times. Because, holy crap. The loading times. It takes about 30 minutes for my game to load, lol. Purging CC is always hard, but it's worth it in the end. I think I've cut down about a fourth of it by now.

Because it's been 84 years since the update, I thought I would treat you guys to a couple of ancient Reyerstown photos. I hope you enjoy them!

Fitzgerald: December 2004 (Bettina, Oliver, Denise)

Corley: July 2031, Carina and Sean's wedding (Bettina, Nancy, Carina, Sean, Brett)

Tidwell: March 2032 (Vera, Mia, Allen)

Schultz (now-Kojima): August 2025, backpacking adventure through the Northeast US (Roxana)

Ingram: July 2023, family trip to the Florida Keys. (Charlene, Blake, Ellis, Whitney; sitting: Howard)

Reid: February 2010, celebrating the birth of their third child (Walter, Michaela, Suzanne)

I hope you all had a great holiday! See you guys again soon!

Happy Birthday (January 2055)

January 2055. Natalie Rosales is 32, Paul Rosales is 30. Welcome to Reyerstown, Baby Rosales!

Natalie started having contractions on the afternoon of her due date.

Bridezilla

January 2055. Adam Lowery is 25. Mia Tidwell is 23. Elena Lowery is 22.

Mia grabbed Adam’s hand and dragged him into her parents’ kitchen, ignoring the flood of questions pouring out of his mouth. She peeked over her shoulders, sending her hair flying into her fiance’s face both times, before letting out an angry huff. When he asked what was wrong, she completely lost any remaining bit of composure.

“What's wrong? You invited your roommate! To my bridal shower!” she said, shaking her pointed finger at him.

“He’s one of my best friends. Why not?” he said.

“I didn’t approve of this!” Mia said, throwing her arms out.

He missed half of Hanukkah and now he was missing all of New Year’s. Isaac didn’t really care--New Year’s Eve was always spent at his aunt’s house, listening to his cousins whine as his dad and uncles watched football. He didn’t even like football. But his mother wanted him to be there, and she made it very clear with the flood of text messages she had been sending for the past six hours.
